Welcome to the Kingfisher Lodge

Two anglers on the Bighorn

Kingfisher Lodge has been guiding flyfishing anglers on the Bighorn since the river opened to the public in 1981.  Our combination of quality guides helping you enjoy this world-renowned trout fishery, comfortable accomodations, and home-cooked meals make for the flyfishing vacation of a lifetime.

The most productive trout fishing waters of the Bighorn flow through the Crow Indian Reservation in south-eastern Montana.  The river is considered to be one of the greatest trout fisheries in the world and is arguably the best blue-ribbon trout steam in the lower U.S.  Our knowledgeable guides are ready to share their secrets with you and - more importantly - do everything in their power to ensure a fun and memorable fishing experience.  We use McKenzie-style drift boats to take you on your journey down the Bighorn river, a journey that will provide you with memories that last a lifetime.

Kingfisher Lodge offers a peaceful location in a rural setting a half-mile beneath the northern shoulder of the Bighorn Mountains.  Each of our rooms is equipped with two queen-size beds, full bath, small refrigerator, and air conditioner.  We're sure you will find our accommodations more than inviting after a day on the river.

We feature a main lodge dining area where our guests gather to swap tales and enjoy our gourmet dining, something bound to please after (or before) wrestling with Bighorn Browns and 'Bows all day.  Our kitchen crew has a lot of tricks up their collective sleeves and doesn't mind showing off a little, so be ready for anything, all of it good.  And, they whip up our boat lunches, too, so the quality eating never stops, even on the river.

We provide a completely restored farmhouse for guests who prefer something a little different, a little more private.  The Farmhouse accomodates up to four anglers and is great for those who wish to cook on their own.  This modernized homestead dwelling features a fully-equipped kitchen, full bath, a cozy livingroom, and air-conditioning.

We like to think of ourselves, our crew, and our guests as an extended family with room for more.  We're not formal and we hope you'll feel like family, too.  Join us for a few days; we're sure you'll fit right in.

Check us out, think of the good times you can have, then plan on a Bighorn vacation with us.  Contact Matt or Keri to settle your plans, then count the days 'til you get here.  We look forward to seeing you.

For your convenience, we offer a one-page printable overview of our services and rates.
